Quite simply, the Garmin eTrex Legend has the poorest performance under a forest canopy of the 5 GPS handheld receivers I have owned. In fact in the trees it is useless.
It would probably be fine on a boat, or in the desert. Garmin has a habit of leaving old technology on the market too long.
Yeah, I keep saying "who would have thought there'd be so many trees in the forest?" This is rather useless... I wanted to use my eTrex Legend so I knew how many miles I hiked, but I NEVER even get the same answer twice for the same route.
