Garmin GPS MAP 60 - Workhorse

The Garmin GPS MAP 60 is a "simple" powerhouse that has extra ordinary battery life - especially with lithium batteries for ice cold conditions.
Anyone who really goes backcountry or kayak touring carries a paper map anyway, so this is perfect for telling where you are, creating new maps, waypoint breadcrumbs , etc.
Garmin waterproof standards rock since my unit is in or around water at least twice a week for the past 5 years.
It's not super slim, the external antennae is there for a reason -it works well, and it's not the lightest, but it works everyday for me in a wide variety of conditions.
Showing off your GPS is one thing
--proving where you're at with a UTM grid is something else.
