Garmin nuvi 265

by Daniel
(New York, NY)

I had a Magellan 3250 before. The suction cup was finicky. The routing was absolutely deranged in urban areas like NYC.

Bought the Garmin nuvi 265 to replace it. The device is nice, but route entry is annoying in the extreme. I really miss being able to enter an address by starting with a zip code and then pinpointing from there. With the Garmin, I have to manually select the state, type the city and then see if my guess about town, township or county was the right one to find the street that I need to get to.

It is also annoying because it refuses to let me enter 2310 XYZ street if that specific number isn't in its database. I have to pick from a few alternatives and then plan on figuring out where I need to go when I arrive. Since my last turn might be South or West, that means the last turn could be wrong. I don't know why they are missing this feature since every in-car GPS and my previous Magellan had it.
