Using GPS for many years. The improvements are legion.

Started with Delorme Tripmate on a 12" Compaq notebook with Win 98.
Then MS Streets & Trips and Street Atlas USA.
Currently using Garmin XT mobile on my iPAQ 211 (Windows Mobile 6.5) with the US, Mexico and Philippine maps since I currently live near Guadalajara with another home in the Philippines and sometimes visit the US.
Works wonderfully, though the maps are off by up to 200 feet sometimes.
US inserting errors?
Just insert a 4GB SD card when I want the GPS and connect to my Delorme Blue Logger via Bluetooth.
The GPS goes on the dash or on my belt (pedestrian mode) and the 211 talks to me or the car audio system via Bluetooth high quality audio with headphones or audio input to the car audio system.
5+ hours with no power connections.
In Guadalajara the WiFi will connect as I move through the city and there Google Maps is better than anything else.
Use a 14" notebook with Bluetooth when traveling solo mounted between the front seats with voice guidance and control under XP.
Never have to take my eyes off the road. Just talk to it.
Can do the same with the iPAQ mounted next to the speedometer, (velcro is wonderful stuff) but prefer the bigger display since my eyes are not young anymore.
Who could have imagined this 20 years ago? Incredible.
